Prospects for the Land Bank project: Ukraine and Poland discuss cooperation in the agricultural sector
During his working visit to Poland, Chairman of the SPFU Vitaliy Koval met with Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland Czeslaw Sekerski. The meeting was also attended by Tomasz Ciedyk, Deputy General Director of the National Center for Agricultural Support. The main topic of discussion was the Land Bank project, which is one of the SPFU's priorities for the current year.
The Land Bank initiative involves online auctions in the Prozorro.Sale electronic trading system, through which farmers will be able to access leases of state agricultural land.
The Polish experience of implementing such a system can be a valuable asset, as this country has carried out one of the most successful land reforms among post-socialist states.
In addition to buying and selling, Poland widely uses land lease, mostly state-owned. According to data, more than 1 million hectares of agricultural land in this country are leased.
“Implementation of the best practices of Polish land reform can be an important factor in modernizing the Ukrainian agricultural sector and its integration into the European market,” the Minister emphasized.
During the meeting, the Polish side presented its achievements and best practices, emphasizing the experience of leasing state land.
Wojciech Legawiec, President of the Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture (ARMA), also joined the discussion and shared his 30 years of experience in this institution.
