Taras Yeleyko: privatization is the transformation of unproductive assets into productive ones by attracting investments
Deputy Chairmanof the State Property Fund Taras Yeleyko took part in the All-Ukrainian Forum «Ukraine - 30», where he spoke about the auctions for large-scale privatization, which were unblocked in 2021.
According to him, the purpose of privatization is to transform unproductive assets into productive ones by attracting investments in the modernization of non-core assets for the state and the creation of new jobs.
«Privatization is really a big reform in every sense. It performs 3 tasks at once: overcoming corruption and illegal influence, filling the state budget and most importantly - attracting sustainable investment and business development» - said Taras Yeleyko.
This year a large-scaleprivatization hasbeenstarted - the first auction since the privatization of «Kryvorizhstal» is to take place at the end of the summer.
Large-scale privatization hasbeenstarted in Ukraine, which was on pause since 2005. The UMCCauction will take place this summer, and by the end of 2021, transparent auctions for the privatization of the First Kyiv Machine-Building Plant (formerly the Bolshevik) and the President Hotel are also planned» - said the Deputy Chairman of the Fund.
The privatization proceeds in 2021 are set at UAH 12 billion, which is 45 times more than in 2018. And the partof large-scale privatization in revenues is planned at UAH 9 billion from the first 3 objects of «large-scale privatization».
«The starting price of UMCC was set at UAH 1.6 billion and increased to UAH 3.7 billion. This is the result of large-scale and painstaking work to prepare the facility for privatization, namely the disclosure of information on mineral reserves. This was done for the first time in the history of Ukrainian privatization» - Taras Yeleyko said.
Large-scale privatization will be an important element in infrastructure development and economic modernization, as there are all the conditions to attract large-scale investments in Ukrainian facilities.
According to Taras Yeleyko, the preparation of the «Odessa Port Plant» continues, already at the 5th stage out of 8, a transparent auction which is expected to take place, as planned, in 2022.
«As of 1990, there were about 8.5 thousand state-owned enterprises in Poland, today there are about 40. In Ukraine today there are about 3600 state-owned enterprises - we have to go through all successful countries with market economies, reducing the state's share in the economy. Taking this opportunity, I invite everyone to visit our website privatization.gov.ua, where there is all the information on each privatization object and to participate in fair auctions» - summed up the Deputy Chairman of the SPFU Taras Yeleyko.
