The team of the State Property Fund of Ukraine met with the head of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)
The State Property Fund, in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency, agreed on the collective implementation of projects. In particular, they discussed the participation of state enterprises in Japan's support programs, which could contribute to the development of companies.
This was discussed during the meeting between the Fund’s team and the head of JICA Hideki Matsunaga. The Chairman of the State Property Fund presented opportunities that could be interesting for Japanese businesses and talked about privatization and leasing of real estate. He emphasized the extensive and diverse investment portfolio of privatization, including nearly 1,500 objects from various sectors. Among them are significant privatization assets, such as the Hotel "Ukraine" and the Odessa Portside Plant.
Vitaliy Koval also discussed new areas of activity that were not typical for the Fund, including the Land Bank and work with sanctioned assets. Both projects have already achieved success, with SPFU owning 691 sanctioned assets.
They specifically discussed large privatization objects, including the preparation for the privatization process of the confiscated asset "Ocean Plaza" shopping mall.
Vitaliy Koval emphasized, "Today our common task is to unite all efforts for the reboot of the Ukrainian economy. I will promote this idea during the Conference of the Reconstruction of Ukraine in Tokyo. It is important that assets do not just stand idle, do not generate losses, but work. Because every hryvnia invested in privatization brings 4 hryvnias to the Ukrainian economy".
The Fund’s team, along with the head of JICA, also discussed the following issues:
• The need for the creation of new logistical solutions to improve the performance of state enterprises.
• Ways to attract modern equipment for the production of medical devices in state enterprises.
• Opportunities for the launch of Japanese business activities in Ukraine, and others.
